One Anastomosis Gastric Bypass

17 Sep 2020 | Announcements, Bariatric Surgery, Gastric Bypass

Aspiring Bariatrics is pleased to start offering the one anastomosis gastric bypass.  This is a variation of the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass where only one join is made with the intestine rather than two.  Compared to the Roux-en-Y form of the gastric bypass it may offer a slightly higher average weight loss outcome and may also be slightly more effective for type 2 diabetes.  Due to the longer length of intestine bypassed however the risks of vitamin deficiency are greater than with the Roux-en-Y gastric bypass and there is also a small risk of bile reflux requiring further surgery.  For more information on this procedure please contact us.
