Update 12-5-2020

Kia ora koutou,

Following the announcement from the government about moving to alert level 2 we are exploring what this means for our patients. We are pleased to note that with the alert level reduction to level 2, Mercy Hospital is continuing to re-open elective surgery and endoscopy.  Due to the devastating impacts of COVID-19 within a healthcare environment there will still be some limitations.  We do anticipate being able to re-start bariatric surgery at level 2, but there may still be some restrictions on higher risk operations or patients.  We are also needing to re-schedule all those who had their operations cancelled during levels 4 and 3, so thank you for your understanding during this time.

We will be restarting face to face clinic appointments during level 2, but will continue to also offer teleconsultations via Zoom where this is appropriate.  We are also please to announce a free bariatric information webinar for people wanting to find out more about bariatric surgery that will also facilitate the pre-surgical assessment process for those wishing to proceed.
